Fourth of July is right around the corner! Below are some helpful tips to ease the anxiety regarding fireworks.
1.) Safety First!
Ensure that your horse has a safe place to stay during the fireworks. If your horse is outside, make sure that your fencing is in good shape and that there are no holes, branches, or rocks where your horse could get injured.
2.) Reduce the effects!
Keep the lights on to lessen the bright flashes from the explosions. Playing music in the barn can also assist in muffling the loud explosions and other noises from the fireworks.
3.) Get help if needed!
Consult your veterinarian to see if calming agents or sedatives are needed.
As always, the EquidDoc staff is available to assist you in determining the best course of action for you and your horse. Please contact us at 508-885-4205 or office@equiddocvet.com if you have any questions or concerns. … See MoreSee Less
EquidDoc provides digital and analog health certificates for our equine patients. Health certificates are necessary when traveling across state lines and are required by many organized events, showgrounds and fairgrounds, both in and out of state. A health certificate documents that your horse was examined to be free from infectious disease, which protects your horse and the rest of the barn from unknowingly transmitting disease. Most health certificates are good for travel for 30 days after examination.
